Head Coach

Biography:

Cameron Isenhour is beginning his 5th season as Head Coach of both the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams. Coach Isenhour is a USA Cross Country Specialists Coach. In addition, Isenhour is a USA Track & Field Level 2 Sprints/Hurdles/Relays and Endurance certified coach and USA Track & Field Certified Official. Coach Isenhour is a former Division II collegiate athlete who competed for Mars Hill University before he transferred to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he earned a Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Business Studies. Coach Isenhour is a CTE Teacher at Northwood High School where he teaches Business/Finance courses along with Python Programming I. 

The men’s team recorded its highest finish in 3A with a 4th Place finish at the 2022 NCHSAA 3A State Championships with Christian Glick finishing 10th earning All-State Honors.The previous three years the men’s team finished 5th,8th,and 8th Place at the NCHSAA 3A State Championships. At the NCHSAA 3A Mideast Regional, the Chargers were back-to-back-to-back Regional Runner-up from 2019 to 2021.The Chargers have been Conference Runner-ups the past four years. The Women’s Team qualified for the first time under Coach Isenhour led by Caroline Murrell who finished 3rd earning All-State Honors for the second straight year. Murrell was 3A Central Conference Champion, 3A Central Runner of the Year and 3A Mideast Regional Champion. At Friday Night Lights Caroline won the  Girls Championship 5K and was the overall winner outrunning 796 girls. The team finished in 11th Place at the NCHSAA 3A State Championships.Coach Isenhour was voted by his peers as 2020 Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. At the 36th Annual Greensboro XC Invitational in 2019, the men's team finished 1st in the 3A Invitational Division. 

Coach Isenhour’s student-athletes have accomplished the following under his guidance during the Cross Country season. 

  • Broke the Men’s and Women’s 5000m School Records

  • 2022 3A Central Women’s Conference Runner of the Year

  • 24  All-Conference Honors (1 Conference Champion)

  • 15 NCHSAA 3A Mideast All-Region Honors (1 Regional Champion)

  • 3 NCHSAA 3A All State Honors 

  • 38 NCHSAA 3A State Qualifiers 

Isenhour came from Belmont Abbey College  as an Assistant Track & Field Coach where he coached Jumps & Throws. Under his guidance, his athletes set five school records in the Jumps. Ming Davis broke the American Paralympic Record in the F46 Class for the Javelin throw.  Isenhour has Coached at the Youth, Middle School, High School, NAIA and Division II level where he has coached numerous All-Conference, All-Region, All-State and All-American athletes including Conference, Regional, State and National Champions
